We have several announcements today:
*The only time of day students can walk through the "forbidden" hallway is on the way to lunch when supervised by your teacher.
*ACT registration is open for the October 18th exam. Some seating is available for Sunday, October 19th. Juniors and seniors can use up to two waivers per year to cover the cost of a weekend exam. Freshmen and sophomores can test on a weekend date, but the fee must be paid via credit/debit card when completing registration. See Ms. Susan Norton-Casey in Room 030 for more information or assistance.
*All students are to follow their current schedule unless told otherwise by the counselors. If you have a change, the counselors will call you down or email you directly.
Classes are very full, so some changes may not be possible.
*Students who need bus passes should see Mr. Steve at the front desk as soon as possible. No passes are made after 2:30. You must have a note from a parent with the parents' phone number and the bus number.
*Teachers, if you have any student IDs for students not in your homeroom, send those to the office. Also, if you have students who have not received their Chromebook, please reply to Mr. Brandon's email with their names.
Have a great day!

Welcome to the first day of the 2025-2026 school year!
Lighthouse Team members (pictured below) welcomed students into the building and helped everyone get to a smooth start. Thank you to these students and their advisors!
Announcements:
*We are following an adjusted schedule today.
* Schedule changes must go through the process discussed in homeroom. Students are not to go to the counselors' offices unless specifically requested.
*Marching band will have after school rehearsal until 6:00.
*Soccer plays at Knox Central at 6:30.

Front doors open for students at 7:15 with the first bell (to leave the lobby, go upstairs, get breakfast) rings at 7:40. After the first bell, students can grab breakfast (SAUSAGE BISCUIT) and head to homeroom. If you are unsure of who your homeroom teacher is or where they are located, we will have staff available to help you find your way. Lighthouse leaders (look for black t-shirts!) will also be available throughout the day. .
In homeroom, you will receive a new schedule that reflects any changes. Follow that schedule, even if you think/know your schedule will be changing.
If you have a schedule change request do not go to the counselors' office. Your homeroom teacher will share the process for any change requests with you.
We will see you tomorrow!

Seniors Susanne Mullins, Julissa Alcorn, Adrianna Nottingham, and Jasmine Schooley were some of the students who attended the free opportunity.
Mrs. Camel does plan on offering a similar opportunity later in the school year!
Thank you, Mrs. Camel, for providing your time and the materials!

If a student was unable to attend on Thursday, they will receive their schedule, Chromebook, and other materials on Monday.
Rockets, we cannot wait to get started with the 2025-2026 school year, and we will see you on Monday!!

Any student taking an online dual credit course needs to pick up their Chromebook. The front office at the high school is open today.

We will have shedule and Chromebook pick-up; barber hair cuts arranged by JROTC (students can go to Youth Services); parking passes for eligible students; ACT/SAT weekend testing information & registration opportunities, and so much more!
Teachers & staff will be on hand to answer any questions.
Doors are open 3:00-6:00. See you tonight!!!

Today was a great day to be a Rocket! Our 9th graders are ready for Monday!
We were able to take a few photos from the morning, but there was so much happening, we couldn't capture it all.
A huge thank you to our Lighthouse Team members and teacher leads Mrs. Shanlee Childress and Mrs. Morgan Taylor!

RCHS has TWO major events this week for students and their families!
For all 9th graders, Fresh Start begins at 9:00 on Wednesday morning. Incoming 9th graders will be at the high school until noon for a great program led by RCHS students. Students will receive their schedule!
On Thursday, it is Rocket Palooza, our open house event for all RCHS students and their families! Families can come anytime between 3:00 and 6:00. Parent informational sessions will occur every 30 minutes in the auditorium, plus students can pick up their Chromebooks, get their schedules, visit classrooms and teachers, and purchase parking passes. Even get signed up for the October or December ACT!
Parents can visit with community vendors, and our JROTC program (and Cadet Makayla Wagers) has arranged free haircuts on a walk-in basis! In addition, hotdogs will be served, courtesy of First Christian Church!
Please join us for two GREAT events as we look forward to this coming school year.

Park in the back parking lot and enter by Youth Services. You will be in Mrs. Camel's room #146!
Seniors, this is a great time to paint those senior/Class of 2026 jeans!
If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Camel at tammy.camel2@rockcastle.kyschools.us.

We’re celebrating the start of a new school year with three exciting back-to-school events for our middle and high school students! Come meet your teachers, grab your schedule, explore your school, connect with community partners, and enjoy a FREE meal.📚

Below you will find the official RCHS Dress Code (found on pages 4-5 of the handbook). Some items are highlighted in yellow for special emphasis.

If you are, and you have NOT met with Ms. Angie Bussell for your orientation to the course, you MUST email her to schedule ASAP. Students who do not log in on August 18 may be dropped from the course immediately by the university or college.
Email her at Angie.bussell@rockcastle.kyschools.us to schedule a time.
Please share this with any student you know taking ONLINE dual credit courses.

The purpose of the meeting is to train and plan for Fresh Start, our freshmen orientation. We are so excited to get started, and we hope you are also!!!
Please reach out to Ms. Ella Bradley with any questions. She can be reached at Ella.bradley@rockcastle.kyschools.us.
See you on Wednesday!!!
