Registration for the ACT on Saturday, October 18th, is still open, but seats are filling up quickly. Registrants can choose paper or digital. If selecting digital, make sure to choose the "test center provides" option--or RCHS won't appear.
Remember: all registrations must go through the student's MyACT account.

Mrs. Burdette and her talented students have three shows planned. The musical season will kick off officially in October with the the Castle Chorus Fall Concert. December will begin with the RCHS Drama Department's production of Elf Jr.: The Musical, followed just a few days later by the Castle Choir Christmas Concert.
All students and the public will be able to enjoy the shows. RCHS Student Performances will cost $1; the community can attend evening performances for $5. Mark your calendars today!

Any homeroom that reaches the HR goal of 20 food items or $20 or a combination of the two by Tuesday, September 9, will get to go outside and enjoy walking time in the bus loop during homeroom. We hope to see every homeroom outside on Tuesday!

*We are beginning our iReady diagnostics in math and English this week. Please do your best. These scores will be used for RockTime groups and to determine who gets first priority for our free ACT testing.
*Counselors will be leading all grades through a training this week.
*Teachers, PLAN meetings tomorrow during planning.
*Students, please return Electronic User agreements. You cannot take your Chromebook home without that agreement signed and returned.
*We still have a few students who have not turned in the Parking Rules and Regulations. Please see Mr. McKinney to return those. Teachers, the names are on an email sent last week.

It is a wonderful Wednesday at RCHS! FYI--the Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks is now available, so it is officially fall, y'all.
Here are today's announcements:
*Student drivers, all parking rules and agreement forms must be turned in by Friday. You will give those to Mr. Steve McKinney at the front desk.
*Student drivers, make sure you enter the school grounds through the gate beside the softball field (across from Quick Care). Also, when exiting at the end of the day, you must turn right and head toward the stoplight.
*RockIT will be here during lunch to help students who are experiencing difficulties with their Chromebooks.
*Registration for Saturday ACT and/or SAT exams is open. Remember, there is a fee of up to $72 for the Saturday ACT and $68 for the Saturday SAT. Juniors and seniors can take the ACT using a fee waiver; some students may qualify for a reduced SAT cost by applying for a waiver.
We are on our regular schedule today.

We have several announcements today:
*The only time of day students can walk through the "forbidden" hallway is on the way to lunch when supervised by your teacher.
*ACT registration is open for the October 18th exam. Some seating is available for Sunday, October 19th. Juniors and seniors can use up to two waivers per year to cover the cost of a weekend exam. Freshmen and sophomores can test on a weekend date, but the fee must be paid via credit/debit card when completing registration. See Ms. Susan Norton-Casey in Room 030 for more information or assistance.
*All students are to follow their current schedule unless told otherwise by the counselors. If you have a change, the counselors will call you down or email you directly.
Classes are very full, so some changes may not be possible.
*Students who need bus passes should see Mr. Steve at the front desk as soon as possible. No passes are made after 2:30. You must have a note from a parent with the parents' phone number and the bus number.
*Teachers, if you have any student IDs for students not in your homeroom, send those to the office. Also, if you have students who have not received their Chromebook, please reply to Mr. Brandon's email with their names.

Welcome to the first day of the 2025-2026 school year!
Lighthouse Team members (pictured below) welcomed students into the building and helped everyone get to a smooth start. Thank you to these students and their advisors!

*We are following an adjusted schedule today.
* Schedule changes must go through the process discussed in homeroom. Students are not to go to the counselors' offices unless specifically requested.
*Marching band will have after school rehearsal until 6:00.
*Soccer plays at Knox Central at 6:30.
*Tennis players from last year will meet after school in Mrs. Hammons' room on Friday until 3:30.
*Boys/girls cross country practice is tomorrow (8/26) after school.
